Low rise jeans for men are more popular than ever. The question is do men look hot in this style? Low rise jeans got their start in the late 60’s and early 70’s introduced as hip huggers. They were about an inch or so below the belly button and very snug down to the knee. At this point they flared out and became bell-bottoms. They were very popular, especially with the hippy culture. Low rise jeans began a comeback early in the 90’s. Though some did have a flared leg, others came in a boot cut style. The straight leg style was introduced in the 2000’s and has replaced the flared leg.
Men who wear these jeans should be careful, while figure flattering, this style jean can accentuate many figure flaws. Since they fit lower on the waist and rise up a bit in the back, a man with a larger belly might want to rethink the idea of wearing low rise jeans for men. These pants sit right above the hipbone and can give the figure an elongated look. However, a man with a beer belly, may find that it makes his belly look bigger thereby making him look heavier.
There are many stores and shops that have low rise jeans. They can be found in some of the major department stores like JC Penney and Nordstrom’s. They can also be found in stores such a Kohl’s and men’s specialty shops online. Some of the popular brands are Union bay, Arizona and Levi. They all feature a loose fit in the seat and thigh for comfort; they usually have 5 pockets and are either boot cut or straight leg jeans. They fit lower in the front and tilt higher in the back.
To make sure your jeans fit you just right you will want to grab a tape measure. If you don’t have a soft one grab some twine or string to get your size in inches, and then measure that. You need to decide how high you want your jeans to fit on your waist or hips. Measure the circumference of your torso, keeping the tape measure comfortable around your body. Make sure you are not measuring your clothes. Then measure your in seam by laying a pair of jeans you already own flat and measuring them from the crotch down to the ankle seam. Once you have the waist and the length measurement, you will know the exact right size to buy.
Keep in mind when deciding whether low rise jeans are right for you men, it really depends on your body and what you want to look like. Are you fit and toned? If so, low rise jeans will accentuate this and flatter your body making you look hotter. If you are not, this type of jeans may not be quite as flattering and therefore put you in the category of fashion faux pas.
